Understanding DPN

What is DPN?

Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra is a common, benign skin condition that appears as small, dark, raised bumps, often on the face, neck, chest and back.

It is especially common in people with African, Asian or Caribbean heritage. Although DPN is medically harmless, it can impact on tone, texture and self-confidence, and some people choose cosmetic removal.

Specialist treatment

How is DPN treated?

WOB Beauty uses electrolysis short-wave diathermy, a skin-safe technique, to target and remove individual DPN lesions with precision.

The treatment is safe, minimally invasive and carried out by a clinician who understands melanin-rich skin, to deliver visible, long-term results.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Is DPN removal safe for darker skin?

WOB Beauty specialises in DPN removal for melanin-rich skin using electrolysis short-wave diathermy. Your skin and treatment area are assessed before treatment.

Does DPN removal hurt?

The treatment is described as involving minimal discomfort. Mild redness, swelling or tenderness can occur around the treated area afterwards.

Will DPNs come back after treatment?

Treated lesions are removed, and the technique is designed to prevent recurrence in the treated spots. New DPN can develop over time, which is why some clients return for maintenance sessions.

What is the recovery time?

Early redness can settle within a few days, while scabbing and pigmentation changes can take longer to fade. Your aftercare guidance explains what to expect for your treatment area.

How many DPNs can be removed in one appointment?

It depends on the size and density of the area. Appointments are priced by time or area, and Bola will advise on what can be covered once she has seen your photo.

How do I start treatment?

Tell us which area you would like assessed and send a clear photo by WhatsApp. Bola will review it and advise you on the appropriate next step.

Can DPN be treated alongside other types of blemishes?

Yes. In many cases, DPN can be treated in the same appointment as skin tags or seborrhoeic keratosis. This will depend on the number, size and areas being treated. Please send us clear photos beforehand so we can advise you on the most suitable appointment length.

Your next step

Not sure whether your skin concern is DPN?
